11 more days...
until I leave Wisconsin
holy crap - and it still hasn't hit me yet. To be honest, my emotions are mixed. Yeah the winters sucked, working with elves was not fun, and whole football thing, not for me. On the other hand, I've been to Paris more than times I can count, mastered Chicago, and put a footprint or two in a 350 year old company. (This International VP emailed me today, with this great praise about how much I contributed to the company; I didn't even think he knew my name.) Not too shabby I guess for a 27 year old.
Not to mention my crazy ass, metro friends - benkoben, the 'gays,' and the each of my unique coworkers are going to be missed. You freaks better come visit me! I luw you guys man.
I'm freaked to go home and deal with the family obligations but stoked to move into my new apartment.
If any Califronians are reading this, you may get a little offended but at least I warned you. Living in the midwest and traveling to random small towns in Europe has definately changed my perspective. Californians, in my experience, are just too 'busy' to go for a walk or visit someone who is 20 minutes away. Public transportation is just not an option. I hope I don't fall into that trap again. After living in Wisconsin 2 and half hours away from Chicago - I still visited that city more often than I ever did San Francisco in the 25 years I lived in the North Bay. And the quality of life is very different in Wisconsin. My neighbor baked me brownies when I had a bad day! Shoot, if your neighbor in Cali makes you brownies, they're probably of the 'special' nature.
And seriously, what the hell is up with that stupid law that if there is a one in 8 gazillion chance that you get cancer from an ingredient in your product, you have to put it on packaging...man, Cali can be wack. Thank gooodness I won't have to worry about that at my next job.
