Greetings, from Mumbai
I'm sitting here in the business center of the immaculate Marine Plaze Hotel in Mumbai, India. I left my dad's village of Matwad yesterday so I could experience the new years nightlife in this Indian modern city. Mumbai is fascinating - complete with its own neighborhoods like any city (New York, SF, etc.) and the people are a mix of traditional and modern. I'm staying in the Marina area which is on the coast of the Arabian Sea. The weather has been magnificent and I'm looking forward to spending the evening partying in the posh circles of Mumbai. My real hope is that I bump into a Bollywood star.
I have been taking notes almost everyday so this blog entry is merely a message to say Happy New Year!
I'll leave you with this - it's been a tough year around the world but count your blessings for what you have today. I have been staying in a village for the past 10 days where the water still isn't pure, hot water for a bath is a luxury, the electricity goes out every afternoon, yet the people are full of love, life, and pride.
See you next year - I miss you all!
