Having fun in 2010
Every year I have at least 3243 things that I want to try but don’t have the time/money/skills to do so. (Will someone please figure out how to add at least 3 hours in a day just so I can catch up on sleep?)
In an effort to satisfy my cravings for these unconventional resolutions, I’ve started to prioritize by year. Last year, I finally launched Raas for a Cause, a culmination of many years of idea generation related to dandiyas and ‘saving the world.’
This year, I created 3 resolutions for myself: vacation in Tokyo, learn a bit of piano, and do 1 pull up. (Yes, 1. I need to ensure that my goals are realistic and attainable.)
I’m on my way to the pull up goal, have some ideas on how to learn the piano, and need to postpone Japan to next year.
What will my third goal be? Well, it my spare time, I continue to volunteer and tutor homeless kids once a week. In one session last year, I spent the entire time teaching a girl how to ‘round’ numbers. She never got it and I was disappointed in myself for not being able to teach her. Seeing the failure in my face, the cute girl even consoled me, ‘It’s okay. I don’t even get it when my teacher explains it.’ Wow.
Back to tutoring this new year, the same little girl, who I am surprised still remembers me and that situation, told me ‘I still don’t get rounding.’ Well, Audrey, this is your year!
Resolutions for 2010
1. Do 1 pull up
2. Learn a bit of piano
3. Teach Audrey how to round numbers
Stay tuned…
